Background:
In November 2014 Jen challenged me to stop biting my fingernails for the entire month. It was a major success and for months my fingernails looked great. Some months later I started biting them again and for the last year and a half they have gone through varying stages of looking good to being non-existent. So, to start off year three of challenges we are revisiting this challenge in an effore to get me back on track again…
The Month:
I started by going to a friend’s salon and gettin’ my nails did. When I did this challenge last time I got normal manicures every month or so and it helped to keep the biting urges at bay. This time, at the recommendation of a friend of mine, I got gel put on my nails! It was thick and strong, so much so that even if I had wanted to bite my nails off I am not sure I would have been able to. In fact, almost a month and a half later and I still have the gel on my fingernails. I do not think I will ever get this gel treatment done again, but I did find that monthly trips to get a manicure kept my nails always looking good, strong, and not bitten.
Successful?
Yes, it was a very successful month. I did not bite them once and actually just had to have them filed down because they were getting too long. Playing the guitar was becoming uncomfortable and I did find them getting in the way. Now that they have been retouched, it’s time to keep them looking great.
