Background

Anyone remember the Jim Carrey movie Yes Man? In it the main character basically had to say “Yes.” to every opportunity that came his way. My challenge for September 2015, while not as extreme, was to get up and out more and say “Yes.” to the majority of social opportunities which presented themselves to me.

The Challenge:

This challenge began as I began two weeks of vacations. I decided to put all thoughts of money aside and just go for it… Saying “Yes!” directly lead me to do, among other things:

• An adventure tour in Nazca
• Change my travel plans to get to Lima for the Mistura food fair
• Paraglide in Lima
• Swim with sea lions in Lima
• Do tons of day hikes in Huaraz with new friends
• Have lots of dinners out all over the place
• Join a Fantasy Football League
• Hike around the Temple of the Moon in Cuzco
• Go bungee jumping and sling-shotting!
• Travel to Costa Rica for work…
• Become the new Assistant Country Manager for my job!!!

Successful?

This is a hard one to quantify, and I did say “No.” from time-to-time… but overall I do think I had quite the adventurous month and I did say “Yes.” much, much more often that I said “No.” I have continued this trend into October and hope to stay social, learn a ton at work, and have more adventures moving forward.
